Mark Davidson, University of California, Santa Cruz, organized and chaired the a fascinating session at SEM entitled Alan Lomax at 100: A Critical Re-evaluation of Lomax’s Legacy in the Twenty-First Century, sponsored by the Historical Ethnomusicology Section. Gage Averill, University of British Columbia gave a cogent summary of Lomax’s “metrics” (Canto, Choreo, etc.) and their relevance to ethnomusicology today.

A photo exhibition entitled 1954-1955 Alan Lomax in Italia will be on display until Sunday, September 27th at the Palazzo Ducale, Spazio Aperto, in Genoa, Italy.  Organized by Laura Parodi and Goffredo Plastino, it features photos taken by Alan during his time in Italy.

From June 21 through October 4, 2015, NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale presents the first comprehensive museum survey of photography in Haiti in the exhibition From Within and Without: The History of Haitian Photography.
